Remembering Sacramento’s Fiestas Patrias

In partnership with the Mexican Consulate of Sacramento, La Raza Galería Posada is proud to present Alta California - Celebrations of Home. This exhibition is based on materials accumulated, over 40 years of events, by Sacramento residents and community groups that organized and participated in México’s civic-holiday celebrations. Over a nine-month period La Raza Galería Posada staff collected archival material from Sacramento residents.
Included in the exhibition are personal photographs, newspaper articles and historical documents that demonstrate the civic pride Americans of Mexican descent have for the land of their birth and for their new home; Sacramento. Rare photographs by Sacramento photographers Hector Gonzalez, Freddy Romero and the late Rudy Cuellar Sr. are among the highlights of the exhibition.
