(Sacramento, CA) La Raza Galería Posada announced today that it is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.
Kevin Barri, President of Wells Fargo’s Community Foothills Market said "Wells Fargo is proud to support organizations that work to strengthen our communities. We look for projects that keep our communities strong, diverse, and vibrant.We are very pleased to present this $25,000 grant to La Raza Galería Posada', Northern California's only Latino/Chicano/Native American gallery and cultural center. Happy 40th anniversary and many more!"
The announcement of the award coincided with the announcement that the City of Sacramento and La Raza Galería Posada have signed an agreement
that gives the organization rent-free space in Miller Regional Park.
Marie Acosta, Director of La Raza Galería Posada remarked that the award and a new home are auspicious events of the Sexto Sol according to indigenous calendars. The Wells Fargo grant will sustain the programs and service the Galería provides to residents and visitors to the Sacramento region including popular October Dia de los Muertos workshops and events, plus concerts, poetry readings, art exhibitions and film screenings

Land of Moo is the trio of John Halicki (drums), Mark MacDonald (guitar) and Steven Coolidge (keyboard). They play an eclectic mix of jazz standards, fusion and avant garde rock.
(Sacramento, CA) Miller Park Art Complex, the new home of La Raza Galería Posada, will open to the public
with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 23. La Raza Galería Posada is a non-profit,
multi-disciplinary cultural center and public space offering Latino/Chicano and Native arts exhibitions,
art education programs, workshops, films and concerts and serves as a community gathering place.
The new address is 2700 Front St., just south of the Broadway Corridor in Sacramento.

The all-ages daytime fete will honor powerful bookends in the Latino community---
Manuel Pickett, Director of Teatro Esepejo and Estella Sanchez, Director of The Sol Collective.
“We want to express our thanks to Manual Pickett for his thirty years of unwavering commitment to
Chicano theater and to Estella Sanchez for her new activist leadership in the Latino arts community.
Community building through the arts remains our primary goal," says Marie Acosta,
Executive Director of La Raza Galería Posada. Acosta worked closely with Sacramento Parks and
Recreation to coordinate the move to Galería’s new larger location.
The fundraiser for 2012-13 education programs will feature events for the entire family at a
family friendly price of $8 per person, children under 12 are free.
The Grand Opening includes a silent auction, art and craft vendors, ballet folklórico,
live music and a Sacramento “Idol” contest for best female/male Ranchera vocalist.
